It is now widely recognised across industry that manufacturing is undergoing a huge change. At ICPR 1200 Limited,
we do not see this as a step change, and hence the term 'Manufacturing for the Future' rather than the often used
'Industry 4.0', but whichever term industry deems appropriate, it is true to say that adapting to this 'evolution' will be

This is the key method of identifying what a manufacturing

FULL LIFE CYCLE
Developing a connected factory should be considered along the
lines of connectivity across the life cycle of a product.
Initial progress will naturally be based around the key production
facilities and assembly centres, but as described previously,
integration of the supply chain should be undertaken
With connectivity comes traceability, so this will enable
manufacturers to initiate programmes that will include
dealerships, after sales service partners and then above all
consumers, to gather data and learn lessons on a continual
basis in order to maximise quality through the full life cycle.
Added value with this kind of development will be based on
suitable analysis, but areas that can be identified at this stage
include cost savings in warranties.
There are a number of manufacturers, for example automotive,
which maintain Connected Technology and Intelligent Transport
Divisions. These Divisions will be able to feed the data they can
gather back into the company more effectively with a system that
can utilise the data across all other relevant Divisions.
There are a number of programmes that can be run in addition
